The Creative Brief
"From the clothes that we wear to how we accessorize and how we style our hair, fashion has evolved over the centuries as a means of expressing one’s identity. At the same time, as our lives become more digitized, virtual style is becoming an important part of people’s identity.
How do you use fashion to blend your physical and digital identities and express yourself to the world? "
The Big Idea
My inspiration was to use geometric motion graphics as a texture for the cloth simulations within Lens Studio. By creating patterns that hide the edges of their borders, I could tile the images in seamless patterns. I landed on triangles and squares as the patterns for the top and bottom.
Process
Using the material editor nodes, I adjusted the size, speed, textures, and color properties of the lens in order to set the parameters to what I had envisioned for the look and feel of the items.
The Result
In the 2023 nationwide US Snap Lens Challenge, my lens won first place for design, creativity, and execution. Since winning I have continued an ongoing collaboration with Snapchat and Next Shift Learning to develop lenses for additional AR projects.
